WPSO arrests Minden man on battery charges

Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Minden man for domestic abuse battery with child endangerment.

Sheriff Jason Parker said patrol deputies Eli Hay and Kyle Allen arrested Steven Andrew Corbit, 44, of the 100 block of Country Lane Sunday, after receiving a call concerning a custody issue.

“The deputies made contact with the subject’s wife, who had a visible black eye and marks on her neck consistent with a hand pressing hard around her neck,” Parker said. “The victim said her husband hit her in the face and choked her in the presence of her 23-month-old child and then left with the child.”

While deputies were on site, Corbit reportedly drove past the house, and Dep. Hay conducted a traffic stop and brought him back to the scene, where the child was returned to the mother.

“Corbit told deputies he may have touched the victim on the neck, and the marks were consistent with both statements given,” said the sheriff.

Corbit was arrested and booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
