A Minden man is behind bars on multiple drug charges.
Minden Police arrested Derrick Carey, 32, of Woods St., Minden, was charged with possession of Ecstasy, methamphetamine, Xanax and for having switched tags.
Chief Steve Cropper said Lt. Chris Hammontree and Off. Ben Sparks were patrolling Crichton Street Saturday night around 9:30 p.m.
“While on patrol, Lt. Hammontree observed a Lincoln bearing a Louisiana plate on Bayou Avenue,” Cropper said. “The license plate was expired. When he ran the plate, it came back to a black Buick. When Lt. Hammontree contacted the driver – Carey – he told Carey his plates were switched. Carey confirmed he knew and gave the lieutenant an ID that was not a driver’s license.”
Carey reportedly had an open container in his vehicle. In his pants pocket, officers reportedly discovered half an Ecstasy tablet, .6 grams of methamphetamine and 1.6 grams of marijuana.
