
North Webster Knights snagged a late lead and defeated Southwood (Shreveport, La.) 8-6 Tuesday. The game was tied at six with North Webster batting in the top of the seventh when Cooper Sanders doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as North Webster collected 13 hits and Southwood six in the high-scoring affair
Southwood captured the lead in the second inning. Jayden Booker hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.
The Shreveport team evened things up at six in the bottom of the fifth inning when Kollin Best singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
North Webster scored three runs in the third inning. Sanders, Ethyn Radar and Jace Wesson all drove in runs in the frame.
Sanders led the Knights to victory on the mound. The righthander went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out two and walking one.
Kaiden Best was on the pitcher’s mound for Southwood. The hurler went six innings, allowing eight runs on 12 hits, striking out four and walking one. Trenton Wallace threw one inning out of the bullpen.
Kyle Dinkins started the game for the Knights. The righty allowed five hits and six runs over five innings, striking out one
North Webster scattered 13 hits in the game. Sanders, Dinkins, Nathan Bernard and Collin McKenzie each racked up multiple hits for the Knights. Dinkins and Sanders each collected three hits.
