A Sunday morning motorcycle accident on Interstate 20 near U.S. Hwy. 371 has claimed the life of a 58-year-old Sarepta man.

Investigating Louisiana State Police troopers said the victim, Christopher Hatfield, was traveling east on the interstate when his Harley-Davidson motorcycle apparently exited the roadway and collided with a median guardrail.

Hatfield reportedly was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the accident. He sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Impairment reportedly is not suspected in the crash. Cause of the accident is still under investigation, according to Trooper Eddie Thomas of the Troop G Public Affairs Section.
