The Lakeside Warriors were slated to host the Block Bears Friday night in a non-district high school football game, but the COVID pandemic reared its ugly head once again and changed those plans.

Friday’s game against Block has been canceled due to Covid protocols for the Jonesville-based school, but LHS may not take the weekend off.

Per new LHSAA guidelines, Block’s predicament will result in an automatic forfeit win for Lakeside.

The Journal spoke to Lakeside coach Mike Santelices Wednesday night, and the head man said he was seeking an opponent to fill the gap left due to the Covid cancellation.

Heading into this morning, no opponent had been found. Lakeside is 1-0 on the season after defeating Magnolia 39-0.
