Returning to the scene of the crime was not a good move for a local man.
Willie James Green, 21, of the 100 block of Loop Rd., Minden, was arrested by Minden Police for simple robbery and felony criminal damage to property.
Chief Steve Cropper said Lt. Chris Hammontree was dispatched to Washington Street in reference to a disturbance.
“Lt. Hammontree made contact with a female who told him her ex-boyfriend, Willie Green, came to the residence and started a disturbance,” Cropper said. “Green tried to grab the female’s phone, but she kept it by holding it with both hands. The two struggled over the phone until Green got it and fled the scene.”
Green reportedly returned to the address about an hour later and threw the stolen phone from the window of a vehicle in which he was a passenger.
“Lt. Hammontree located the vehicle and the owner – Green’s cousin – told the officer that Green threw the phone on the ground and broke it before taking it back to the female’s residence,” said Cropper. “Green gave officers several different stories concerning the phone, but he admitted he ‘snatched’ it out of the female’s hands.”
Retail value of the phone was around $1,200 making the destruction a felony act.
Green was arrested and booked at MPD before being transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
