Journal expands to 3 days a week

By Bonnie Culverhouse

This month begins with exciting news from The Webster Parish Journal.

This parish-wide online publication will be six months old in November, and we have experienced phenomenal growth in readership and advertising.

Wednesdays may be known as “hump day” to some of you working folks, but at WPJ, we are calling Wednesday, November 3 “wonderful Wednesday,” as that is the day we will expand the Journal to three days a week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Wednesdays will focus on, but not be limited to local columnists, as well as world-renowned chef, restaurateur and cookbook author Robert St. John. He will have anecdotes and recipes to share.

We publish obituaries on any or all of those days for a fee (please see your funeral director or email us directly), but obituary announcements (birth and death dates, as well as funeral arrangements) are free of charge. By publishing three days a week, we can share your loved one’s obituary in a timely fashion.

If you are getting engaged, have a wedding (fees apply) or there’s a new little one in your life, we will publish those, too.

We are also starting a new section called “Mark Your Calendars,” where we publish in a calendar format non-profit events happening at your church, school or in the community.

Bonnie Culverhouse and Josh Beavers will continue to write, the Rockin’ Chair will still be rocking (on as many toes as possible) and Jennifer Spurlock will be calling on potential advertisers, as well as those who have been so faithful.

As the sun sets on football season, our Saturday edition will fade, but don’t worry, WPJ will follow the playoffs and bring you local sports during the week.

None of this would be possible without our readers, subscribers and advertisers. We hope you will be even happier as we continue to expand. Please keep sending us tips and story ideas. We are thrilled to be a part of this community.
