Dubberly man damages Minden business

A south Webster Parish man is in trouble with law enforcement after entering and trashing a local business.

Kevin W. Hicks, 52, of Stuckey Rd., Dubberly, was arrested by Minden Police Halloween night and charged with criminal damage to property, unauthorized entry of a place of business and four counts of resisting an officer by force or violence.

Police Chief Steve Cropper said Hicks entered a downtown grill around 7:40 p.m. October 31, as the business was closing, and began damaging the property.

“Off. Kendale Booker was dispatched to the scene and made contact with Hicks in the storage area of the restaurant,” Cropper said. “He attempted to detain Hicks, who pushed the officer and started actively resisting.”

Cropper said Booker was assisted by Capt. Kirk Morgan, Ofc. Jason Lee and Lt. Chris McClaran.

“As Hicks was being detained, he kicked Capt. Morgan and Off. Lee in the leg and spit on Lt. McClaran,” said the chief.

Damage to the place of business is estimated as more than $1,000.

“Hicks did not have permission to enter the business and it was closed to the public,” Cropper said.
