A cooperative passenger will still be held accountable for have drugs in his vehicle.
Kedrick Wyral Heard Jr., 25, of Martin Luther King Dr., Minden, was arrested October 30 by Minden Police for possession of Marijuana and Alprazolam with intent to distribute, possession of Ecstasy, illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police Chief Steve Cropper said Off. Kendale Booker, who was patrolling the area of East and Marion streets, observed a four-door vehicle with “improper equipment.”
“Off. Booker and Off. Jason Lee conducted a traffic stop and noticed a ‘loud’ odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle,” Cropper said. “They made contact with the driver, and Heard, the passenger, admitted to officers that he had some items inside his backpack. Heard showed Off. Lee where the bag was and stated that everything in it belonged to him.”
During the search, officers reportedly located two glass jars containing 15 grams of natural Marijuana, a digital scale, one Ecstasy pill and seven Alprazolam pills.
“Post Miranda, Heard stated that he sometimes sells weed,” said the chief. “During a search by officers, Heard admitted to having a pistol down his pants leg. A loaded 9MM was removed from his right pants leg.”
Heard was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
