Lakeside looking for win to keep playoff hopes alive

By Josh Beavers

There’s just one more chance for the Lakeside Warriors to extend their season.

Following a heartbreaking loss to D’Arbonne Woods last week, the Warriors will travel southeast to Jonesboro to take on the 7-2 Tigers. A Lakeside win could result in the Warriors making the playoffs after missing out last year.

Lakeside (3-5) has struggled the second half of the season and will need its tough defense to stand tall against a Jonesboro team that defeated a talented North Caddo squad last week.

The Warriors defense has played well for the most part this season and is led by senior linebackers Koby Mangrum and Jaden Miller as well as senior defense lineman Kris Redden and junior defensive end CJ Watts.

The Lakeside offense will likely once again be run heavy as the passing game has taken a backseat to the legs of senior Ashton Stewart who put up another 100 yard rushing performance against the Timberwolves.

Lakeside and Jonesboro will play at 7 pm in Jonesboro on Friday night.
