Tide, Knights learn playoff opponents

By Josh Beavers

The second season begins Friday night for football teams all across Louisiana.

North Webster High School and Minden High School both rallied late in the season to earn spots in the LHSAA playoffs.

Minden sits at 4-6 and is coming off a thrilling victory against Franklin Parish. The going gets no easier for the Tide as they will travel an hour down Interstate 20 on Friday to take on perennial power Neville.

Neville is 8-1 on the year and defeated Minden by a 30-0 score earlier this season. This is the second consecutive season the Tide and Tigers have met in the playoffs. Last season, the two teams met in a quarterfinal match where Neville was victorious.

In 3A, North Webster will head south to play St. James High.

The Wildcats play about 20 minutes south of Gonzales below Interstate 10.

They are 6-3 on the season and placed third in their district.

North Webster is 5-5 on the season and is coming off a thrashing off Green Oaks in the season finale.

The Journal will have game previews on Thursday and game stories Saturday morning.
