A look at new sports districts for local schools

By Josh Beavers

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association sent out its preliminary proposal for district reclassification to schools around the state on Monday.

And if the proposed realignment takes place, it will have a significant impact on all three football playing high schools.

Minden will see a whole host of new teams in their district as schools move up and down in classification. Below is the proposed new District 1-4A:

District 1-4A

Booker T. Washington

Bossier

Caddo Magnet

Evangel

Huntington

Minden

North DeSoto

Northwood

Woodlawn

North Webster will basically be a part of an all Northeast Louisiana district.

District 1-3A

Bastrop

Carroll

North Webster

Richwood

Sterlington

Union Parish

Wossman

Perhaps the biggest change comes for Lakeside, which will see Calvary, Loyola and Green Oaks all move into District 1-2A

District 1-2A

Calvary

D’Arbonne Woods

Green Oaks

Jonesboro-Hodge

Lakeside

Loyola

North Caddo

As for Doyline, the Panthers district will look like this:

District 1-B

Castor

Doyline

Quitman

Simsboro

Weston

The new districts would go into effect for the 2022-23 school year.

Schools have until Nov. 13 to make any appeals.
