Springhill Police have arrested a Stamps Ark., man on drug charges.
Mark Anthony Bell, 43, of Columbia Rd., is charged with possession of Methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension and a fugitive from Arkansas.
Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd said on Saturday two of his officers observed a white Nissan Altima traveling north on N. Arkansas St., near the football field in Springhill.
“They engaged their overhead lights and flashers and initiated a traffic stop, with the final location being on Church St., about 50 yards away,” Lynd said. “The driver, Bell, did not have a driver’s license in his possession, but gave them an Arkansas ID card.”
Lynd said Bell was driving under a suspended driver’s license and had an active warrant out of Columbia County, Ark. He was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle reportedly yielded a small clear plastic bag containing three Ecstasy pills and a small smoking device with Marijuana residue.
Bell was transported to Springhill PD and later to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
