Special awards top chamber gala

Tuesday evening, 80 years were packed into two hours at the Minden Civic Center, as the Greater Minden Chamber of Commerce celebrated its annual gala with history, food and awards.

Brigadier General and City Judge Sherb Sentell was presented with the first ever Hometown Hero award for his many years of service in the military and to his community.

George French III, community leader and former CEO of Minden Medical Center, took home the chamber’s Lifetime Achievement award, one that is not given every year.

Small Business of the Year went to Velvet Home & Clothing, Business of the Year was awarded to Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College. Dr. Ryan Oglee, of Minden Family Pharmacy is the newest Business Person of the Year and the Webster Parish Library was recognized as Community Partner of the Year.

Former Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce President Sue Gruber was also honored for her hard work and years of community service, while paving the way for the chamber to serve local businesses.
