Fire causes heavy damage to residence

An afternoon fire in the 100 block of N. Tanglewood in Minden caused heavy damage to a residence and the deaths of two pets.

Minden Fire Chief Kip Mourad said the fire department was called around 3:14 p.m. Monday to the home of Minden High School assistant coach/Defensive Coordinator Alan Ensminger.

“His wife got out OK, but two of the six dogs in the house did not make it,” Mourad said. “There was no one else at home at the time.”

Mourad said no foul play is suspected, so the fire marshal will not be investigating the cause.

“It is still under investigation,” he added. “But the insurance company will be handling it now.”
