There was a great turnout Friday for the WinTheDay Foundation charity golf tournament. The Two-Man Scramble was held at the Pine Hills Country Club in Minden. The 36 participating twosomes were broken up into three flights with Clint Cormier and Brian Bernard winning flight one. David Fox and Casey Rhymes winning flight two. Chad McCullough and Garret Vaughan took the win for flight three.

The title sponsor for the event was FWM Mechanical, Inc. The hole sponsors included Wise, Martin & Cole, CPA’s, Merrill Bank of America Company, Red Ball Oxygen, Regions, Assurance Risk Management Group, Aeropres Corporation, Hebert’s Town and Country, B1 Bank, Red River Ready Mix, and H&E Equipment Services.

“I think the tournament went real smoothly thanks to Dennis Botzong and the volunteers,” said Ronnie Coker, Executive Director of the foundation. “Pine Hills Country Club was in good shape.”

The money that was raised from the sponsors and participants will go towards providing educational opportunities for the youth in our area in the form of free sports camps and after school programs, including the upcoming Minden High Football Camp.

The football camp will be held from 9 a.m. until noon June 27  at the Minden High football field. The Minden High football staff will be providing instruction alongside 3-time National Collegiate Athletic Association All American, Micah Larkins and 2-time high school state champion and 4-year letterman at Louisiana Tech University, Drake Smith.

Grades 1-8 for the upcoming school year can attend and it is completely free of charge. Every camper will receive free personalized camp gear. You can register now by visiting wintheday.org.
