Congressman to address Lions

Minden Lions are in for a special treat this Thursday as U.S. Congressman Mike Johnson will serve as guest speaker during the club’s noon meeting.

Rep. Johnson has begun his third term representing the 4th Congressional District of Louisiana. He serves as the Vice Chairman of the House Republican Conference, is a leader on the Judiciary and Armed Services Committees, and serves as an Assistant Whip for House Republicans. Last Congress, he served as Chairman of the Republican Study Committee, known as the “intellectual arsenal” and the largest caucus of conservatives in Congress.

Rep. Johnson earned his Juris Doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1998, where he was selected as a member of the Moot Court Board and National Moot Court Team and was elected class president and president of the Christian Legal Society. He earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Louisiana State University in 1995, where he was selected to Leadership LSU and the Order of Omega Honor Society, Kappa Sigma Fraternity and served as president of the LSU Interfraternity Council.

Rep. Johnson and his wife Kelly (Lary), a former school teacher from Webster Parish and now a Licensed Pastoral Counselor, have been married since 1999 and have four children, Hannah, Abigail, Jack and Will. The Johnsons reside in Bossier Parish.

The Minden Lions Club meets Thursdays at noon at the American Legion Memorial Home, located at 119 Pine St. in downtown Minden.
