A Minden man brandishing a firearm at a local motel was arrested Thursday night by Minden police.

John L. George Jr., 35, of Hall Alley, Minden, is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.

Chief Steve Cropper said officers Reece Tewell and Lita Hopkins were dispatched to a Shreveport Road location in reference to a disturbance.

“Witnesses told the officers that a guy with no shirt jumped out of a truck, took a couple of steps from the truck, then pulled a gun,” Cropper said. “Witnesses identified the man as George and said he told them he was going to kill them.”

Officers reportedly located a firearm on the center console of the truck in which George was a passenger.

“It was close to where George was sitting,” said the chief.

George was arrested, handcuffed and taken to Minden Police Department without further incidence. He was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
