The 2022 Louisiana Ponytails made history by becoming the first Ponytails team from Minden to win a Dixie Softball state championship.

After falling to South Carolina in their first game last Saturday, they won 4 straight games to enter the final day of the World Series.

They beat Mississippi 20-2, Alabama 10-7, Tennessee 7-3 and North Carolina 13-4. After defeating North Carolina Tuesday night, there were three teams with one loss.

Just like the state tournament, the three teams had to draw for a bye. South Carolina won the bye and awaited the winner of Louisiana and North Carolina.

Louisiana fell to North Carolina. South Carolina went on to win the 2022 Pontytails X-Play World Series. Louisiana and North Carolina are co-runners up.

This year’s Ponytails are Addison Chanler, Kullyn Chanler, Ellie Earnhardt, Audrey Frye, Sariyah Gill, Gracie Heard, Lyle Huddleston, Peyton Malone, Savannah Magnum, Jaidyn Smith, Anna Grace Vining and Emilee Ware.

Coaching the girls are Chris Earnhardt, David Ware and Wesley Chanler.
