The Minden Lions Club will welcome a very special guest speaker for its Thursday, August 11 club meeting. Louisiana State Treasurer John M. Schroder will speak on topics such as the responsibilities and divisions of the State Treasury and claiming unclaimed property.
After serving almost 10 years in the State Legislature, Treasurer Schroder was elected Louisiana State Treasurer in 2017 and re-elected in 2019.
He is a former CID special agent in the U.S. Army and narcotics detective. For the past 30 years, Treasurer Schroder has worked alongside his wife of 37 years, Ellie, in various businesses – most notably in real estate, homebuilding, and development.
Treasurer Schroder works daily toward a better future for Louisiana through trusted stewardship, smart investment, and bold innovation. He believes government must be transparent and manage its money like you manage your businesses and households.
He and Ellie are the parents of two children, who have made him an incredibly proud Paw Paw of three grandchildren.
Treasurer Schroder will be introduced on Thursday by Lion Gene Reynolds, former Louisiana State Representative and State Parks Director.
The Minden Lions Club meets Thursdays at noon at the American Legion Memorial Home, located at 119 Pine St. in downtown Minden.
