Lakeside crowns Jr. High Homecoming Queen

Principal Denny Finley crowns Gracie Young as the Lakeside Jr. High homecoming queen during a ceremony Tuesday night. The high school court will be recognized during halftime of the Warriors game Friday night against Plain Dealing.

Gracie Young has been named Homecoming Queen for Lakeside Jr. High School for the 2022-2023 school year.

Gracie is the daughter of Rocky and Melissa Young.  Gracie enjoys singing, serving at the Joe LeBlanc Food pantry, sharing her faith, running, and hanging out with friends and family. Gracie plans to attend ATM college in Texas to pursue a career in cosmetology. 

Eighth grader Luz Perez was named Football Sweetheart. She is the daughter of Maria Ortega and Eliseo Perez. Luz enjoys reading, listening to music, spending time with family and friends, learning, and participating in various church events.  Luz plans to attend Louisiana Tech University to pursue a business degree to one day open her very own construction company. Luz also plans to work as a realtor while attending college. 

Eighth grader Adleigh Moore was named Lakeside’s Warrior Princess.  Adleigh is the daughter of Chad and Melissa Moore. Adleigh is a current member of the Lakeside Jr. High cheerleading team as well as the track team. She enjoys cheering on the Warriors, swimming, going tubing at the lake, running track, and spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite memories include her 7th grade math class, cheering at basketball and football games, and winning track meets with her team.

8th grade maid – Lajayda Chipps

Lajayda is the daughter of James Chipps Jr. and Candice Washington. Tonight, she is being escorted by her father Mr. James Chipps Jr. Lajayda is a current member of the Lakeside Jr. High Cheerleading team as well as the Jr. High Soccer team and track team. She enjoys cheering, soccer and running track. After college, Lajayda plans to move to Texas and open her very own bakery.

8th grade maid – Emily Jones

Emily is the daughter of Mrs. Amy Jones. Tonight, she is being escorted by Mr. Jeff Oller. Emily enjoys Playing softball and cheering here at Lakeside, as well as hanging out with friends, shopping, and attending First United Methodist Church in Minden. Emily would like to attend Oklahoma University to become a pediatrician. 

7th grade maid – Varsity Hodges

Varsity is the daughter of Jennifer and William Hodges. Tonight, she is being escorted by her bonus dad Mr. Chris Smith. Varsity is a current member of the Lakeside Junior High Cheerleading team as well as the junior high softball team. Her hobbies include hanging out with family and friends as well as going to the dirt track races.  Varsity plans to attend Louisiana Tech University to become a teacher. Varsity says that Lakeside’s St. Jude day is her favorite time of year. 

7th grade maid – Avery White

Avery is the daughter of Melissa and Jay White. Tonight, she is being escorted by her father Mr. Jay White. Avery is a current member of the Jr. High cheerleading team. Avery will be escorted today by 8th grader Tanner Ogletree. She enjoys cheering on the Warriors, shopping, and hanging out with friends. After she graduates, Avery plans to attend Louisiana Tech University to pursue a career in Education. Avery’s favorite memory is last year’s homecoming pep rally where she was introduced as the 6th grade homecoming maid. 

6th grader – Tensley Carter

Tensley is the daughter of Natalie Springer and Kyle Carter. Tonight, she is being escorted her father Mr. Kyle Carter.  Tensley’s hobbies include shopping, hanging out with friends, and watching Tik Tok. After she graduates, Tensley plans to move to the beach to work with sea life animals. Her favorite experience so far here at Lakeside is being able to participate in all the Homecoming activities.

6th grade maid – Hallee Clayton

Hallee is the daughter of Dustin and Rachel Clayton. Tonight, she is being escorted by her father Mr. Dustin Clayton.  Hallee’s hobbies include deer hunting, running track, cooking with her mom, and shopping with her big sister Madison. After she graduates, Hallee plans to attend a reputable college and become a CEO of a major corporation. So far, getting chosen for homecoming court has been her favorite experience here at Lakeside. 

The high school court will be recognized during halftime of the Warriors game Friday night against Plain Dealing. The queen will be named at the end of the ceremony.
