Tons of Halloween themed events and Fall Festivals took place over the weekend.
Central Elementary School held their annual Fall Fest this past Thursday, October 27. This event was for students, staff and their families. The staff sold tickets and armbands with proceeds going towards purchasing new student Chromebooks for the computer lab.
“We went and took donations which covered all our expenses, so everything we raised that night was straight profit,” said Tiffany Cooper, Central Elementary Receptionist and Chairwoman of this year’s Fall Festival.
The rain moved out just in time Saturday evening for the Fourth Annual Fall Festival hosted by the Minden Recreation Center and the City of Minden. There was a great turnout at the recreation center with plenty of games, food, bounce houses, trunk-or-treating, a haunted house and a demonstration by the Minden Police Department.
“The turnout was amazing considering the weather. It was a big smash with the kids and adults,” said Mike Aguilar, Assistant Director of Minden Parks and Recreation. “It’s a funny backstory about how it all started. Pre-covid we would just do a small thing with the staff and their families, and it was a big hit, so the next year we continued the tradition. It has just continued to grow and this year we had the advertising grant from the tourism board and that really helped us spread the word.”
Car Giant in Minden also began their Trunk-or-Treat event Saturday and continued their festivities last night on Halloween.
Sunday was a day for the churches with multiple free community wide Fall Festivals, including Heflin Baptist, First Baptist of Minden and Calvary Baptist to name a few.
Halloween night, along with the usual trick-or-treating happening door to door throughout the neighborhoods in town, the Minden Branch of the Webster Parish Library held their annual Truck-or-Treat event.
Emmanuel Baptist Church, Beech Springs Baptist Church and Glenbrook School’s Fall Festival took place last night, as well.
