DAR cements community relationships

Dorcheat-Bistineau Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution held its National Day of Service project Saturday, October 8 at the Minden Cemetery. This project was led by Jessica Gorman, Service to America committee chairman, in support of the NSDAR Annual Service to American Project. This year’s project focuses on historic preservation through cleaning headstones and restoring and beautifying cemeteries.

After a short demonstration of how to properly clean a headstone was given by Jessica Gorman, those in attendance cleaned headstones of veterans buried in the old section of the cemetery. A total of 18 headstones were cleaned.

Chapter members in attendance were Cindy Madden, Kathy Johnson, Coyal Gorman, and Jessica Gorman. Also in attendance were Jerry Madden, Marcia Stewart, and Aubrey Gorman.
