North Webster ends season on a high note

North Webster’s season came to an encouraging close Friday night at Baucum-Farrar Stadium, as the Knight seniors went out on a two-game winning streak by defeating the Lafayette Renaissance Charter School Tigers 48-12.

The Knights jumped out to an early lead on the game’s opening possession when senior Collin McKenzie hit sophomore J’Kobe Lawson for a 20 yard touchdown.

North Webster recovered a loose ball on the ensuing kickoff and scored a couple plays later when McKenzie called his own number for a 10-yard rushing touchdown.

The second quarter featured senior Cooper Sanders find the endzone three times, twice on the ground on one short run and one 35-yard run. The receiving score was a well-executed screen where Sanders got behind a convoy of blockers en route to a 50-yard TD.

McKenzie would add two more rushing scores to make it 3 rushing and 2 passing scores.

The Knights’ defense was instrumental in the win, led by  Sanders and Donte Owens grabbing interceptions for North Webster.
