Sarepta clerk receives pay raise

By Tina Montgomery

In a brief meeting, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for the Town of Sarepta approved a pay raise for their city clerk.

Mayor Peggy Adkins brought to the board’s attention that Elizabeth Simmons has been employed as the town clerk for 90 days.

“It is now time to vote on her 90 day raise from $14 per hour to $15 per hour,” Adkins said.

Alderman David Neal made the motion to approve the raise for Simmons; Alderman Nelda Hines seconded. All of the board were in favor with none opposed and the motion for the raise carried.

The board quickly approved regular business items including the meeting agenda, the October meeting minutes and the financial statements of all funds.

This was the last regular session for the Board of Alderman. The next regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. January 12, 2023 at Sarepta Town Hall located at 24448 US 371 Sarepta. Town meetings are open to the public.
