Since what goes up must come down, shooting into the air is illegal as one local man learned Friday.

Noah Heidelberg, 24, of the 100 block of Dewberry Ln., Minden, was arrested by Minden Police for illegal use of weapons.

Minden Police Chief Jared McIver said Sgt. Mitch Hackett was dispatched to the 800 block of Fincher Road around 8 a.m. in reference to shots fired.

“The officer obtained a description of a male wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and boots and was shooting in the air,” McIver said.

Heidelberg was located and identified as the shooter.

“A search of Heidelberg revealed a Glock magazine in his pocket and a live 9MM round in his boot,” said the chief. “He also had a holster inside his waistband.”

During a search of the scene, officers reportedly located 14 live 9MM rounds scattered around on the ground, as well as one spent 9MM shell casing in the grass nearby. The firearm was located in the apartment of Heidelberg’s girlfriend.
