Minden St. Jude Auction seeks more sponsors

By Bonnie Culverhouse

Few events can take something as serious as cancer in children and turn it into a fun, fundraising event. That’s exactly what the Minden St. Jude Auction has done every year since its inception more than four decades ago.

This year’s event February 9-12 is themed “Wave Goodbye to Cancer.”

Co-Chairs Melissa Brown and Laura Hollingsworth say the things most needed to make the auction a success at this time are more sponsors.

“We’ve had a great response already, but we’ve not heard from some sponsors from previous years,” Hollingsworth said. “We mail our letters in bulk and a lot of these sponsors say they never received it. We want them to know, all they have to do is go online and click ‘be a sponsor.’”

Deadline for sponsorships is January 15.

Last year, Minden raised more than $2.4 million to fight childhood cancer. All that money goes to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
