City going out for bids on street improvements

Smoother roads are in Minden’s future after the city council voted unanimously Monday to advertise for bids for the 2022-2023 street improvements project.

Superintendent of Streets Terry Combs said once the council votes to advertise, they will move fairly quickly. So far, there is no order to the list of improvements.

“It really depends on the contractor and his schedule,” Combs said. “I’m assuming that since Country Club (Circle) is probably going to be a complete rehab, they may start on that one first. But there’s no way of knowing for sure.”

The following streets and roads are on the list:

  • Country Club Circle from Germantown Road to Lewisville Road;
  • Bayou Avenue from Pine to High streets;
  • High Street from Bayou Avenue to Shreveport Road;
  • North Middle Landing from West Street to Shreveport Road;
  • South Middle Landing from Shreveport Road to Horton Street;
  • East Street from Martin Luther King Drive to Industrial Drive;
  • Carolina Street from East to Sibley Road; and,
  • Intersection of Davenport and Erwin Thompson drives.
