Village of Dixie Inn aldermen are expected to elect Lance Milligan to serve as Mayor Pro Tem today at their 5 p.m. meeting.

Mayor Pro Tem is a position just under the mayor. He will fill Mayor Donna Hoffoss’ shoes if there is a reason she cannot fulfill her duties.

In addition, the council will hear reports from water/maintenance, police, aldermen and mayor.

In new business, Hoffoss is requesting approval to sign an intergovernmental agreement with Minden City Court.

“Minden City Court handles all of our traffic tickets so we do not have to do Mayor’s court,” said Hoffoss. “Then send us the money collected.” 

Also, aldermen will have the opportunity to approve a quote to outfit the 2023 Tahoe from TEECO Safety.

“The new Tahoe is being fitted with all the necessary equipment; they don’t come that way,” Hoffoss added. “There will be a cage in the back seat for prisoner transportation, radar, radios, lights. It will be a fully-outfitted police vehicle.”

The Village of Dixie Inn Council meets at 5 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Village Hall, 60 Shell Street, Dixie Inn. The public is invited to attend.
