Apaches can’t recover from 12-2 loss

Glenbrook Apaches watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-2 loss to St. Charles Catholic Comets on Saturday.  St. Charles Catholic Comets scored on a walk by Hudson Heltz and a walk by Brady St. Pierre in the first inning.

The Apaches struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing St. Charles, giving up 12 runs.

St. Charles got things started in the first inning when Landry Powell threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate.

The Comets scored three runs in the second inning.  Their big inning was driven by a walk by Hudson Heltz and a single by Michael Hotard.

Brandon Kragle led things off on the hill for the Comets. The hurler surrendered two runs on three hits over five innings, striking out 12.

Powell started the game for Glenbrook Apaches. The pitcher allowed two hits and six runs over one and one-third innings. Cason Clemons, Hudson Glasscock and Ryan Reagan each contributed in relief.

Hayden Harmon led Glenbrook with two hits in three at bats.

Apaches take down West Ouachita in high-scoring game

Glenbrook Apaches nabbed the lead late in the game in a 13-11 victory over West Ouachita Saturday. The Apaches trailed 11-10 in the top of the seventh inning when Maddox Mandino tripled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring two runs.

Bats blistered as Glenbrook collected 10 hits and West Ouachita tallied nine in the high-scoring game.

Glenbrook opened up an early lead in the second inning when Seth Mangrum doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

West Ouachita scored five runs in the second inning. The big inning for West Ouachita came thanks to singles by B Kazmaier and C Martin and by R Stevenson.

Mandino got the start for the Apaches. The fireballer surrendered six runs on two hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out four.

J Treno was on the hill for West Ouachita. The bulldog went three innings, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out three and walking zero. Stevenson and J Shopher entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and two innings respectively.

Glenbrook Apaches totaled 10 hits in the game.  Mangrum and Hayden Harmon all collected multiple hits. Mangrum went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits.

West Ouachita scattered nine hits in the game.  K Graves and Kazmaier each had multiple hits. Graves led West Ouachita with three hits in three at-bats.
