Smoother roads are in the future for some Minden residents. According to city officials, Benton & Brown Contractors will begin work next week on the City of Minden Street Improvements project. 

Minden Mayor Nick Cox said all attempts will be made to not close a street while the project is ongoing. 

“Citizens need to be aware that during the term of this project there will possibly be temporary lane closures and intermittent redirection of traffic on these streets,” he said.

Street Supervisor Terry Combs said Wednesday the contractors were “laying out the street at Carolina and East.”

“They may do those streets first,” Combs said  “Then he may go to High Street, Middle Landing and Bayou Avenue and do the intersection of Davenport and Erwin Thompson last.”

Combs said the section of Country Club Circle between Germantown and Lewisville roads will receive attention after school dismisses for the summer.

The following is the list of streets:

East St. – From Industrial Dr. to MLK Dr.

Carolina St. – From Sibley Rd to East St.

South Middle Landing Rd. – From Horton St. to Shreveport Rd.

North Middle Landing Rd. – From Shreveport Rd. to West St.

High St. – From Shreveport Rd. to Bayou Ave.

Bayou Ave. – From High St. to Pine St.

Davenport Dr./Erwin Thompson Dr. Intersection

Country Club Cir. – From Lewisville Rd. to Germantown Rd.

To avoid any damages caused by road construction, any sprinkler heads near the edge of the roadway on the streets mentioned above will need to be MARKED BY THE PROPERTY OWNER by April 10.
