Let Your Light So Shine

Matthew 5:14-16

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

We as Christians have a very important responsibility!Jesus expects for his people to be  lights and examples to a hurting world.

We as born again believers have been saved from the POWER of sin, only by God’s Grace, not because we were so good, but because GOD was so good and is good all the time.

“In time past I was in darkness too…..God called me out of darkness into his light to be  a shinning light to those who don’t know him.

God’s children should never apologize for the light that shines in them, no matter who it makes uncomfortable! We are not better, but we were chosen to live different,  to be holy(set apart)!

1 Peter 2:9

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

~LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE~

Jesus  has given us his light for a purpose! We must be examples everywhere we go.!   Jesus is the light of the world, in him there’s no darkness. The Light has only one job and that is…..”To SHINE!!

We are to shine in a world full of darkness and wickedness.!

1 Peter 2:12

Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

We as children of the light should be sharing the goodness of Jesus Christ by the way we live, love and the way we treat others.

There’s no light in the world apart from Jesus Christ. His light shines through every person who belongs to Him. The light of Jesus is meant to be visible to the world!

Jesus adds to this metaphor by referring to a city positioned on top of a hill. It is not meant to be hidden; a city on a hill is meant to be seen and found even in the darkness of night.

During the time of Christ, the walls around a city on a hill were often made from white limestone, which would be relatively easy to see, even on a dim night.

“I often like to go outside and watch the stars at night in the sky, stars are shining bright and are visible…it’s the same way with Christian’s, we should shine and be visible to a dark  world.”

John 8:12 says

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Jesus is the light of the World and  he expects us as his children to let our lights shine. We as Christian’s should never dim our lights to make the world comfortable , It’s Jesus’ light that shines in us and through us.

Everyone will not appreciate or except the true light. Don’t hide or dim your light to avoid rejection or persecution.

We as God’s people must continue to share the good news to a lost world in love, meekness and kindness.

We can’t be private Christians when it comes to sharing the light and Gods word to the world.  Our faith and trust must be in Jesus.

Let your light so shine!!!!

Something for us to think about:

Are we a light in our community? Are we a light in our homes? Are we a light to the unsaved?   Are we a light wherever we go?

~LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE~

We must shine so others may see our good works and glorify our father which is in heaven. The good works are works connected to the kingdom work of God.!

It’s not about us!! God gets all the glory.

Our good works are not for “self-recognition” but to glorify God. We can’t think it’s all about me..myself and I, but it’s God ‘s Holy Spirit that works in us and through us.  Only what we do for Christ will last.

Ephesians 2:10

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

We are to be example’s to a lost world by letting our light shine and not making it shine.

(Example)There’s a difference between letting our light shine and making our light shine.

By letting our lights shine it comes from the Holy Spirit in us and making our light shine comes from SELF  ALONE!!!

We as  Christians can’t have a light switch shine that can be controlled from the outside!

Our Conduct and character should be different than the world, we are not perfect, but we should be blameless.

God is love!!!! John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God gives everyone a choice to be saved  and  to be a light for him. We as Christian’s must allow God’s Holy Spirit to lead us as Shining lights to those who are lost. Let them know there is HOPE In Jesus.

Be Encouraged and shine for God’s glory. Jesus is the LIGHT.
