
Even though Glenbrook Apaches collected seven hits to Ascension Catholic Varsity Bulldogs’s six, they still fell 4-1 Tuesday during the LHSAA semi-finals.
Glenbrook got things started in the first inning when Turner McLelland’s sac fly scored one run for Glenbrook Varsity Apaches.
In the bottom of the first inning, Ascension Catholic Bulldogs tied things up at one.
Ascension Catholic pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning when Luke Husers doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Brooks Leonard earned the victory on the mound for the Bulldogs. The pitcher went six innings, allowing one run on seven hits and striking out six. Bryce Leonard threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Easton Sanders was on the mound for Glenbrook. The hurler allowed four hits and two runs over three and a third innings, striking out seven and walking one. Hayden Harmon and Maddox Mandino entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively.
The Apaches racked up seven hits. Garrett Brown and Mandino all managed multiple hits. Mandino and Brown all had two hits. Glenbrook was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Landry Powell made the most plays with 12.
Ascension Catholic Varsity Bulldogs totaled six hits in the game. Husers and Layton Melancon each had multiple hits for Ascension Catholic Varsity Bulldogs.
