Dining with Diabetes is a series of four classes conducted by Nutrition Extension Agent Shakera Williams, MPH and LSU Health Sciences School of Medicine student Camila Carrera. This program helps individuals learn strategies to manage their diabetes through menu planning, carbohydrate counting, portion control, and label reading. Participants have the opportunity to sample healthy foods made utilizing concepts taught.*This program is not intended to provide individual prescriptions for diabetic meal planning and it is not intended to replace diabetes education furnished by qualified health care professionals.
Class fee to attend the entire program: $35
The program fee can be paid with cash, check or money order at the Webster Extension Office. Please make the check payable to the LSU AgCenter Webster Parish.
Program Sessions: Thursdays at 6:00 P.M.
June 29: What is Diabetes?
July 6: Carbohydrates and Sweeteners
July 13: Fats and Sodium
July 20: Vitamins, Minerals, and Fiber
TBD: Reunion Class (within three to six months after last class)
