A fire of yet-to-be-determined origin was quickly extinguished by Minden firefighters Friday afternoon. The fire was in an upstairs apartment on Carolina Street.
Minden Fire Chief Brian Williams said the Fire Marshal is enroute to investigate.
“First unit arrived on the scene and found heavy fire in a second floor apartment,” Williams said. “They initiated an interior fire attack, knocked it down and confined it to two rooms.”
The chief said the fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes.
“At this time, the fire is under investigation,” Williams said. “We do not suspect any foul play or think it’s suspicious. The fire marshal is coming just to investigate and determine the actual cause of the fire.”
In addition to the fire department, Minden Police and an emergency medical service team responded.
“911 dispatches an ambulance to all working structure fires to stand by for the firemen,” he said. “Especially during hot summer months.”
