Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputies and investigators have taken more drugs off parish roads.
Chazzsmun L. Lewis, 31, of the 200 block of Walter Lyons Rd., Minden, was arrested by Sgt. Josh McCormick and Capt. Bobby Igo III for possession of methamphetamine, Ecstasy, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff Jason Parker said Sgt. McCormick and Capt. Igo were driving north on Allen Drive in a marked patrol unit around 9 p.m. Wednesday behind a white Lincoln Town Car.
“They observed the Lincoln cross the yellow line at least three times,” Parker said. “It then made a right turn onto Walter Lyons Rd, and McCormick activated his blue lights to initiate a traffic stop.”
Lewis reportedly continued driving until he stopped in the driveway of his own residence.
“Lewis was advised as to the reason for the stop, and he told the deputies that he did not have a valid driver’s license,” said the sheriff. “The faint odor of marijuana and an alcoholic beverage were coming from the car. He granted consent to search the vehicle.”
Under the driver’s seat, McCormick and Igo reportedly located a fanny pack containing 2 clear baggies of approximately 10 grams of a crystal substance, a clear baggie of suspected marijuana, a pill bottle with suspected marijuana and a pill bottle with approximately 20 ecstasy pills. Parker said there were several empty baggies in the fanny pack, along with a digital scale in the center console.
Lewis was advised of his rights and he admitted to owning the suspected narcotics. He was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
