A couple of Mississippi men are getting a look at the inside of a Webster Parish jail, thanks to Minden Police.

Jarel Edward Shelby, 32, of Wiggins, Miss. is charged with possession of marijuana, Ecstasy with intent to distribute and oxycodone. His bonds total more than $52,000.

Also of Wiggins, Miss., Terrance Redeemer, 34, was arrested for possession of Ecstasy with intent to distribute. His bond is $50,000.

Minden Police Chief Jared McIver said Off. Kendale Booker was on I-20 westbound near the 47 mile marker (Minden/Sibley exit) around 8 p.m. Monday, running stationary radar when he clocked a vehicle traveling westbound at 90 miles per hour in a 70-mile-per-hour zone.

“The 2021 Volkswagen was being driven by Redeemer with Shelby in the passenger seat,” McIver said. “As Off. Booker approached the vehicle, he could smell a strong odor of marijuana. Further investigation led to the search of both occupants and the vehicle.”

During the search of Shelby’s person, officers reportedly located marijuana inside his boxers.

“They also located suspected oxycodone pills in the passenger side of the vehicle, which Shelby took ownership of,” said the chief. “While searching the trunk of the vehicle, they located a Zip Loc bag containing Ecstasy pills.”

Everything found totaled $847 in cash, 946 Ecstasy pills (street value approximately $19,000 to $25,000), 24 grams of marijuana and 6 oxycodone pills.

The men were arrested on the above charges and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
