Meet the 23-24 Webster PepSteppers

By Josh Beavers

It was a great summer for the Webster Junior High PepSteppers as the girls practiced for many weeks before their annual camp.

“It’s the 100th anniversary of Webster School, and I believe these girls are going to help represent Webster in a positive light,” said Katherine Mixon who is a Webster teacher and the PepStepper sponsor.

She said the PepSteppers came into camp nervous and having to learn three dances.

“We partnered with Marie Wise, owner of Wise Dancenter,” Mixon said. “She comes in and is tough while also encouraging to all the girls.”

She said the dances were complex, “however, these girls showed up day after day, and pushed through to learn all three!  They are such an incredible group of young ladies who persevere over difficult situations.”

Mixon said there are many plans for this school year including normal activities like football and basketball games but also community outreach and volunteer days. Recently, many of the PepSteppers showed up and showed out packing five pallets worth of free books for Webster Parish students.  These books will be passed out at the Back-to-School Bash on August 7.. On August 17, the PepSteppers will be a part of Meet the Tide and Wolves.
