School is back in session later this week for Webster Parish schools. In order to celebrate bells ringing once again, the district held its annual Back to School Bash on Monday.
This was the 15th year the district has held the event, and it continues to grow with each edition.
The event was held simultaneously in Minden and Springhill so all the parish had a chance to come out and get free school supplies and participate in raffles and other events to celebrate the new year. Webster Junior High and the Community Activities Center hosted the events.
“As you can imagine, the cost of required school supplies and uniforms can be overwhelming, and many of our families depend on our assistance in preparing their children for the up-coming school year,” said Ursula Hullaby, coordinator of the annual event. “Our goal is to ensure that every student has what they need in order to focus on their academic success as they begin the 2023-24 school year.”
The Bash was preceded by the “Pack the Bus” event held last week. As part of “Pack the Bus” the community was able to donate school supplies or make donations to help parents offset the cost of starting the new year.
“We sincerely appreciate your continued support in this much needed campaign to assist our students,” Hullaby said. “Our organization has been able to provide support to thousands of students over the past fourteen years and we could not do it without YOUR help!”
