‘Nacho Day Cancer’ to benefit local family

By Paige Nash

The community continues to rally in support of local business owner, Joe Morgan, who was recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma.

There will be a “Nacho Day Cancer” event at Pine Hills Country Club this weekend. The event will kick off Friday, August 11, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Food provided by Hugh Woods Catering will be served shortly after that, followed by an auction. A local band, Flight Delay, will be providing entertainment beginning at 8 p.m.

“We are expecting to have a great turn out for this amazing auction,” said Nacho Day Cancer chairman Thomas Adams. “So many people from the community have come together to help raise money for this amazing person we all know and love.”

With dozens of sponsors donating money and items, the auction will have about 40 items up for grabs. The money raised will benefit Joe and his family while he is undergoing treatments.

“Joe has been battling Multiple Myeloma for several months and we are just trying to do what he has done for so many and help with the financial burden,” said Adams. “Please come out and support our hometown treasure – Joe Morgan.”

Mike’s Hometown Spirits will be at the event set up with a cash bar.

On Saturday, August 12, there will be a 2-man scramble golf tournament. To sign up, please stop by Pine Hills Country Club. There are only a few spots still available. For those not participating in the tournament, the committee is still asking for the community to come out and show their support.
