Warriors roll past Redskins

Lakeside Warriors rolled to a big win Friday against Ringgold Redskins 41-16, evening their record at 1-1 and beating the reigning GeauxPreps.com Team of the Week.

Lakeside Coach Mike Santalices said there were mistakes made by his team, but overall he is very happy with the win.

“In the end, it’s not about rushing, it’s not about passing, it’s the win-loss column,” Santalices said.

Santalices said he feels both sides of his team played well – offense and defense.

“They (Redskins) only had one big run on us, but they didn’t get too much,” he said.

Offense “did OK,” he said. “We’re getting better. We still make a lot of mistakes – we still fumbled a few times. Once we get out of our own way and get those mistakes fixed, we’ll be able to open up the offense a lot more and make things a lot easier on us than it was tonight. The game should’ve been a lot easier than it was – we shot ourselves in the foot with mistakes.”

Offensively, Quarterback Jordan Case scored three touchdowns, Tarmarjah Ferrell scored twice and Taron Riley had one receiving touchdown.

Lakeside’s next game is Friday, Sept. 15 at Plain Dealing.
