The motto for the 15th Annual Car & Bike Show in downtown Minden this past weekend couldn’t have been more appropriate. The event attracted hundreds of car and bike enthusiasts from all over the Ark-La-Tex. Young and old agreed that “The Heat Is On” as they checked out everything from Corvettes and Mustangs to tractors, jeeps, and rat-rods.
Old and young alike feasted on pork chops and turkey legs served up by the sponsoring Vintage Car Club of Minden’s “Chef” Robert Grigsby. Food trucks and soft drink vendors also made sure everyone was satisfied.
For kids who were too young to appreciate remodeled vintage autos and trucks, there was face-painting by Ejay Colvin and two bouncy houses.
Drawings for gifts were held through-out the day, with items donated by area merchants and businesses. Members of the Board of Directors of Minden Main Street assisted with registration.
Prior to the presentation of a heap of trophies, many of the show entrants lined up for a “Fun Run” down Broadway to Homer Road, to Hwy. 531, west up Hwy. 80 past Webster Jr. High, and back into historic downtown Minden.
Shelby Townsend took home the “Best of Show” trophy with a 1961 Econoline truck. The “People’s Choice Award sent to Vincent Chevalier with his 1978 Chevy Camaro.
