Minden Police arrested a local man last week for drugs and an alleged physical altercation.
Anthony Tyrone Elkins, 42, of the 2000 block of Pershing St., Minden, was arrested for possession of hydrocodone, synthetic marijuana and simple battery.
Minden Police Chief Jared McIver said Sgt. Chris Cayer was dispatched to E. Union Street around 1 p.m. Thursday for reports of a disturbance in progress.
“When the sergeant arrived, the complainant said Elkins and the possible victim – a female – were involved in an altercation and were seen walking toward Graveyard Street,” McIver said. “Sgt. Cayer said he located the two subjects on Ida Street where Elkins could be seen taking an offensive posture with his fists raised, as if he were about to strike the other person.”
Elkins reportedly complied with the officers’ commands to place his hands on the police unit. While searching Elkins, Sgt. Cayer located a pill bottle containing four pills – later identified as hydrocodone – and a black plastic bagging containing suspected marijuana.
