The Miss Minden and Spirit of Fasching Scholarship Competition is set to take place on November 11 at 7 p.m. at the Minden High School Auditorium. Every year teens and young women from across the parish and surrounding areas participate in hopes of representing Minden at Miss Louisiana and while doing so, earning scholarship money that can be used to further their education.
Participants will also have an opportunity to represent themselves and a cause close to their hearts. Miss Minden and Spirit of Fasching is excited to give these young ladies a platform to share what they are most passionate about along with providing future networking opportunities, community involvement opportunities and most of all an opportunity to hold their own space in a room with confidence.
The Young Women’s Service Club of Minden along with the Webster Parish Journal is happy to highlight each of the women who will be competing for a 2024 title.
Our second featured participant is 26-year-old Enia Gardner of Shreveport.
Gardner is the current 2023 Miss Pelican State and has previously held the titles of Miss Spirit of the Red 2019 and Miss Louisiana Port City 2020.
She is a nationally registered and fully certified EMT through Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) and is a current paramedic student. Along with being a student she also holds two jobs; one as an EMT at Acadian Ambulance in Shreveport and a System Alert Responder for Ochsner LSU. She plans to continue her education and become a Registered Nurse.
Gardner believes the issue of having affordable higher education options will have the greatest impact on her generation. She said, “It is so expensive, and it takes so much effort to sit through class after class to try and complete a course. Just like anything in life, it isn’t worth having if it were easy to do. However, sometimes financial struggles inhibit the path to learning.”
Three things on her bucket list include earning another degree, getting engaged and visiting Hawaii.
