The Miss Minden and Spirit of Fasching Scholarship Competition is set to take place on November 11 at 7 p.m. at the Minden High School Auditorium. Every year teens and young women from across the parish and surrounding areas participate in hopes of representing Minden at Miss Louisiana and while doing so, earning scholarship money that can be used to further their education.
Participants will also have an opportunity to represent themselves and a cause close to their hearts. Miss Minden and Spirit of Fasching is excited to give these young ladies a platform to share what they are most passionate about along with providing future networking opportunities, community involvement opportunities and most of all an opportunity to hold their own space in a room with confidence.
The Young Women’s Service Club of Minden along with the Webster Parish Journal is happy to highlight each of the women who will be competing for a 2024 title.
Jillian Duggan, 20, is our final contestant to recognize.
Jillian is a dance major at Northwestern State University, and her career ambition is to join the Radio City Rockettes.
Jillian is a seven-year Vacation Bible School volunteer, NSULA Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society member, Dance Organization of Students Public Relations Officer, current captain of the Demon Dazzlers Danceline and current president of the NSULA Dance Organization of Students.
She believes that being fit is a balance of everything in the body.
“Not only must you focus on physical fitness but mental and spiritual as well,” Jillians says. She enjoys Yoga and meditation.
“I also believe that eating right and staying hydrated are key factors in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.”
Jillian believes economic security is a growing issue with her generation, and she is concerned as her peers enter early adulthood.
“Because of the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic and the substantial increase in inflation, there is a fear of being unable to find financial stability,” she added.
Three things on Jillian’s bucket list include move to a new state, become a certified yoga instructor and book her first professional dance job.
