Man sprays way into can

A 39-year-old Haughton man allegedly went on a pepper-spray rampage last week at a Calvin Liner Rd. residence and is now housed at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center (BDCC) with seven counts of second degree aggravated battery and one unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling charge on his record.

James Anthony Reynolds was arrested shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28th after he allegedly entered the residence uninvited and began pepper spraying a male juvenile. Witnesses reportedly told investigating Webster Parish deputies that Reynolds then sprayed a group of people inside the residence, including one seven-year-old and an elderly person.

“An ambulance was dispatched and all the victims were treated at the scene for the chemical spray,” Webster Parish Sheriff Jason Parker said. “Fortunately, no one had to be transported for additional treatment.”

Parker said Deputy Tony Miller, assisted by Sgt. Aaron Barnes and Lt. Chase Wimberly, placed Reynolds under arrest after he reportedly admitted spraying one of the juveniles. A can of chemical spray was recovered from the suspect at the scene.

Parker said Reynolds is related to the individuals who were at the residence. Investigators are looking into the circumstances that led to the incident.
