A Bienville man is in a Webster Parish jail following his arrest December 12.

According to Louisiana State Police reports, 22-year-old Jason Daryl Mathews, of the 300 block of Back Forty Road, Arcadia, is charged with driving while intoxicated, improper lane usage and window tint.

Mathews was reportedly stopped by a Minden Police officer on Interstate 20 near milepost 48 around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

LSP-G Trooper John Wynn assisted MPD officer Cadyn O’Connor with the arrest. O’Connor reportedly told the trooper he observed Mathews’ vehicle – a black Dodge pick-up truck – swerve while eastbound on I-20.

The trooper said he made contact with the driver and noticed that his speech was “slurred and his eyes were red and glassy.”

Mathews allegedly admitted to drinking a beer and taking medication. He also allegedly performed poorly on a field sobriety test. He was transported to Minden Police Department where he provided a breath sample which, around one hour after his arrest, showed *0.045g percent blood alcohol content. Mathews provided a urine sample to be sent for testing.

He has been booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

* Legal limit for driving under the influence is .08.
