Princeton woman in Webster Parish jail on drug-related charges

What began as a suspected medical emergency outside a local convenience store turned into a drug-related arrest that has landed a Bossier Parish woman in the Webster Parish lockup.

Hayden Corinne Adkins of Princeton is charged with possession of CDS Sch. II (Methamphetamine), possession of marijuana and possession of CDS Sch. IV (Alprazolam) following her arrest shortly before midnight Sunday. Adkins was also the subject of a bench warrant.

Minden Chief of Police Jared McIver said Sergeants Anthony Miller and Shawn Griffith, and Ofc. Logan Clingan responded to a call at the intersection of LA 531 and U.S. Hwy. 79.  Responding officers reportedly found Adkins in the parking lot where she claimed to be suffering from a panic attack.

McIver said an EMS unit responded to the scene where the suspect was examined and cleared.  After learning the suspect could not obtain transportation to her home, McIver said she was offered transportation to MPD headquarters for her safety.

“She had some bags of belongings with her and our officers asked permission to search them before transporting her to headquarters,” the Chief said. “She consented and admitted to having a small amount of marijuana. During the search they found other illegal substances.”

In addition to the marijuana, officers discovered two small baggies of suspected Methamphetamine totaling 3.1 grams and another two small baggies containing pill pieces of what was later identified as Alprazolam. Adkins was booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

MPD closes theft case

In a separate incident, a phone call was all it took for Minden police to make an arrest and close a theft case involving nearly $1,200 in merchandise at a local business.

McIver said Lt. Keith King made the call to a relative of  the suspect, and 41-year-old Lacy Jo Ware turned herself in at police headquarters where she admitted to the crime and was charged with felony theft over $1,000.

Ware reportedly took several clothing items into a dressing room at the store, then attempted to remove security and price tags.

“Clothing items were found in a large brown bag the suspect had reportedly brought into the store,” McIver said. “Apparently she had torn a fingernail attempting to remove security tags and blood was found on some items. Others had holes where she apparently had tried to rip off price tags.”

Ware reportedly fled the business after she was confronted by the manager, but her vehicle’s license number was recorded by store employees. That led to Lt. King’s phone call and the subsequent arrest, McIver said.
