Pendergrass is Minden Mayor Pro Tem for 2024

With the new year came a few changes affecting City of Minden.

At Monday’s first meeting of 2024, District E councilman Andy Pendergrass was unanimously elected Mayor Pro Tempore, replacing District D councilman Michael Roy.

The Mayor Pro Tem serves on the Mayor’s behalf when he or she is unavailable.

During the same meeting, the council also unanimously to appoint Melanie Langford as City Clerk, replacing Michael Fluhr who retired last month. Langford has been assistant city clerk for several years.

Long-time Minden Police officer Sgt. Shawn Griffith was promoted to lieutenant. Griffith passed the lieutenant’s Civil Service exam with 87 percent.

Other agenda items unanimously approved are:

• Appointment of Tommy Davis to Minden Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board;

• Resolution authorizing Andy Pendergrass with signatory power to sign checks;

• Resolution authorizing Melaney Langford with credit card signatory power;

• Resolution adopting limited English proficiency persons as required to receive LCDBG and any other federal funding;

• Final plat approval for lot split of property owned by Douglas Culpepper facing Ryan’s Way;

• Final plat approval for lot spit of property owned by Kendall Hawkins facing Park Highway;

• Budget/financial report for November 2023;

• Fire report for December 2023; and

• Police report for November 2023.
