Webster Parish public schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Superintendent Johnny Rowland.

“After discussion with Brian Williams, Director of Homeland Security, Webster Parish Schools will be closed tomorrow and Wednesday due to inclement weather/extremely low temperatures,” Rowland said around 11:15 Monday. “We will continue to monitor things for Thursday.”

Glenbrook School and Minden Montessori of Glenbrook School will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, as well.

Minden Mayor Nick Cox said the city’s street department was out early this morning to treat the troubled areas once again. 

“The cooperation of our residents has been commendable, as most people have chosen to stay indoors, which has been very helpful,” Cox said. “The Minden Airport has officially closed its runway for safety reasons. On a positive note, our power system has remained solid throughout this period.”

By noon Monday, the temperature remains at 19 degrees with a slight chance of freezing rain and sleet between noon and 3 p.m.
